How Technology has Changed Classrooms Throughout History

How Technology has Changed Classrooms Throughout History

According to our last session dated 4/11/2012 i think it is the 8th session i was very excited with this session as i was clear for us in the end that we can use technology in anything and to learn any thing not only the subject i teach it.
we were asked to create an program to make anyone learn how to read or understand Arabic in the begining i was confused where shall we start but after discussing with each other where shall we start  it gave us ideas where shall we start and we should see what does the person need in this language to make it easier for him to communicate with this language and then we started to know what the person need to know to reach the end and that it.
this was great as no one of us was an Arabic teacher to know what to teach then we thought that she don't need the original Arabic she needs the street language to be more easier in teaching so that she could use it in her daily life

according to the 5th session i was fascinated about how we related the technology to anything like the film of the necklace we could say that what happened on this video was like us in some points dealing with technology.
Also after seeing the lesson demos and see other lesson plans it gave me the idea why i didn't put on my lesson video on the YouTube instead of saying it through normal PowerPoint presentation, which i did

according to the 4th  session in the beginning i was very frustrated that i have to redo my assignment again and i was eager to know my mistakes, when i saw it and knew my mistakes i was feeling like the students feeling when they have an assignment to do.
it was very nice way to introduce the idea of the order of the names with the game also it made the class more fun and it gave me the idea that we should make activities with the students to move much freely inside the class, also the video we saw in the end of the session it gave me the outline of how to make the technology my right hand inside the class as we can use our mobile phones instead of before we thought that we need the multimedia and projector to demonstrate our work as the mobile or the laptop or the ipad will help us much easier.
it was very hard for us to know what is the mistake in the way of representing the work, till you gave us an exercise to write it through the activity we made it was much easier.

Dear all, no words can describe my feelings. I really feel excited with my new learning phase.Every session adds to  my knowledge, activate and refresh my mind by academic reading and writing. This course updates my ways of teaching . It directs me to a modern way of methodology. I hope to acquire more new ways of technology and use them in my teaching

according to the 3rd session it is becoming clear that technology became the most important thing in life.
i think that technology make the lesson interesting and have a soul not a boring normal lesson. when we used the cell phone to make like questioner with my partner it seemed in the beginning something weird to do but after making it i myself started to say openly to my partner what i really think about teaching without fear or shyness. i think that i was testing the water in the beginning of this course and i hope to know how to swim by the end as sometimes i feel the digital immigrants comes to surface and make me oppose any change.
I think technology should be in every lesson but before i sometimes thought i would take time to prepare a lesson using any technology equipment, but after this session i knew that in the internet nothing impossible it can help you even in preparing the lesson.

Really i was very impressed thought the last session with Dr. Joyanne as i finally recognized that the technology can turn any difficult lesson to an easy lesson if it is well used in the timing and also the type.
I thank really Dr. Joyanne that she showed us the way how to improve our self in our work and i know that this is still the beginning of the way.

Hello everybody,
That's my second blog. I became more satisfied to do such work. But I still have some fears drom the course. You all know that we as teachers don't have much time. I wish we would cooperate to get through every task. I find Dr. Joyanne very helpful. She is ready to help us. This gives me some relaxation. And also I find all my colleague very active and experienced

According to Marc Prensky he is confused which is more difficult to learn a new stuff or learning new ways to do old stuff. My opinion it is harder to learn new ways to do old stuff that learning a new stuff because when you learn anything it stuck in your mind the first thing and it is harder to change your old way and you need to be persisting and patient as this stuff needs to keep on doing it in the new way till you get used to the new way so that we can do it naturally.
Dear Dr. Joyanne,

According to me reflection of Sunday session i think i know now that i am on the right track as i always felt that i have something missing in my way of teaching only want someone to guide me.

Then thing which made me try to make any change after i read a small story called "who moved my cheese?" i was fond of the debate in the end of the story. The different opinion of every one makes a different as two was arguing about that we should change our job or career and the other was saying we should changer our way in doing our work and this what i was fond of and give me the push to start.

I always knew that we should use technology inside the classroom and sometime we use it in my school but not most often as we have to see the schedule of the multimedia.

i hope that i will be much better after  i finish this course with your help, enshallah

Thanks a lot for your effort.

Now i understood what is the missing link between our generation and our students or our children generation. I can see why they are always can't believe what we are saying like wait till i check the help icon in a new program to see how it works or when i buy a new cell phone and of course i cant use it till i know every button do what see look to me as if i am  insane  creature in front of them.
I liked what Dr. Bruce D. Perry of Baylor College of Medicine says   “Different kinds of experiences lead to different brain structures" It showed us like this digital natives generation experienced they can deal with those situation in a different way from us, I think they are like us with our parents they looked to us the same look as we are not doing anything right they feel panic from using the cells phone don't mention the computers.
I understand now that we should change our strategies of  teaching and our methods because those old way of teaching can't cope with those students they need something relevant to their environment, surrounding and  their way of thinking.
